I think there is something magical about the way in which a book can transport you into another world; whether it be a science fiction view of the future, a journey into the past, to another culture, or an experience set in the present. Some books make us laugh, some make us want to cry and there are those books that provide information and help us gain a better understanding of our world.

As a writer I enjoy the challenge of creating the worlds of fiction and I find that as I begin to write very often the characters begin to take on a life of their own— they tell me how they will behave, what they will say and do and how they like to dress and what they like to eat.
